Falling in Love with My City, Jozi

Johannesburg is a beautiful place! It took me two and a half years to see it, but I’m glad I finally did.

It’s kind of like that boy in high school who you never noticed but, after university, when he joined the working world and got on that suit and tie tip, he suddenly became hot!

Anyway back to me falling in love with Johannesburg/Jozi/JHB/Jo /Joburg/The Burg … actually no one calls it The Burg.

If you disregard the 5am mornings, traffic, work, work, work and your, “so-called” social life, you’ll see the beauty in this city too.

It’s in the colour of the leaves as they change with the seasons. The bridges that we cross on our two hour commute to work. It’s painted across wall murals in downtown Jozi. And if you’re lucky enough, you’ll see it in the silhouettes of the buildings as the sunsets.

Ahhh yes, this city, this Johannesburg city isn’t so bad after all.
