By now, if you haven’t already heard of The Harlem Shake you should be embarrassed. In February, the song by Baauer, created an epic viral video craze which saw renditions from ballet dancers to swimming teams and Ivy League School Libraries. Last week I was obsessed with these video’s and although I knew what was coming, I still found myself saying “ahhhh naaa they didn’t”. Good times I tell you.
Different versions of The Harlem Shake can be found all over YouTube. And if you’re thinking of creating your own version here are the basics in 3 steps.
Step 1: Find a group of people who have always wanted to be part of a flash mob but missed the boat. (They will be super eager)
Step 2: It begins with a brave masked individual who will take the lead and do a solo dance. The background people should look as if they have no idea what’s happening.
Step 3: Suddenly the base drops, and you cut to a scene where err body dances like crazy.
It’s just too good. If anyone is planning one in Jozi Town just send me the date time and location and i will be there… I’ll even play the part of the soloist.
If you aren’t familiar with Le Harlem Shake (as they would say in Paris) then I suggest you get to Google. Tomorrow I’ll add a few of my favourite video posts.
